Securitron introduces the next generation of their popular Touch Sense exit bars with the release of the Dual Sense Bar. The DSB is designed for use on magnetically locked non-fire-rated doors and is engineered to address the most current UBC life safety codes with respect to egress through magnetically locked doors. It combines the company's patented Touch Sense technology with 1/8" natural mechanical bar movement. Applying the mechanical function creates the opportunity to add the redundant movement-activated switching circuit now required by code officials in certain metro areas. The DSB goes one step further by adding two switches to the movement-activated circuit which provides triple redundancy and unmatched safety.

The DSB is the only exit bar that will effectively release a magnetic lock by touching any part of the product surface from any direction. It is available with two options an illuminated "push to exit" sign provided through an internal fiber optic strip for greater visibility especially in low lighting conditions and Microshield antimicrobial coating for germ resistance often required in health care applications....

An electromagnetic lock is essentially an electromagnet in a housing mounted on the door frame, and a steel armature mounted on the door. When the magnet is energized, it bonds to the armature and locks the door. To allow access or egress, a switch must be provided to de-energize the magnet.

Prior to the 2009 edition of the International Building Code (IBC), the set of code requirements typically used for doors equipped with electromagnetic locks was the section called Access-Controlled Egress Doors. The 2009 edition added a second set of requirements that could be used, called Electromagnetically Locked Egress Doors. Either of these two sets of requirements can now be used, depending on the application.

Detex Corporation's new EAX-300 Battery Powered Door-Propped Alarm sounds an alert when a secured door is propped open. It provides a low-cost security solution because it requires no electrical connection and is quick and easy to install.

The EAX-300 can be field-set for door-open times ranging from one second to two minutes, with a 15-second default. A 100-decibel alarm alerts employees, then silences when the door is closed so there is no waiting for a key-holder to arrive. A 9-volt battery with low battery/LED alert powers the alarm. Accurate installation is foolproof, with a patented plastic template that indicates alignment with the internal magnetic door contact. Weatherized models are available for outside doors.
